Sweet & Salty: Peanut Butter Pretzel Cupcakes


I think you can never get enough new baking ideas, right? I really loved my mint chocolate mini cake from saturday and I am in the mood for more baking. So let`s make some cupcakes! For those of you, who just can`t decide if you feel like sweet or salty today, these chocolate peanut butter pretzel cupcakes are just the right mix between sweet and salty!

The dough is the same as in my chocolate mini muffins recipe (Yes I know, AGAIN?!) I promise I will come up with some new dough pretty soon, but for now this is it:

For 12 Cupcakes you need:

  • 2 1/2 cups all purpose flour (300g Mehl)
  • 2/3 cups sugar (150g Zucker)
  • 2/3 cups butter (150g Butter)
  • 3 eggs (3 Eier)
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder (1/2 TL Backpulver)
  • 1/2 teaspo0n vanilla extract (1/2 TL Vanille Extrakt)
  • a dash of milk
  • tablespoons cocoa ( 6 EL Kakaopulver)

For your chocolate peanut butter cupcakes you have to start with preheating the oven to 350 dregrees (180 Grad). Then you can place the butter and the sugar in a stand mixer bowl and start on medium speed. As a next step you add the eggs and cream all together for about 2 minutes. In another bowl mix the flour, baking powder, vanilla extract and the cocoa. Then add these mixture to the first bowl and cream the chocolate dough on high speed for a few minutes. At last you can add the dash of milk.  Use a normal muffin baking plate and grease it with the butter. Or you can also add some paper moulds in the muffins baking-plate. Place  your chocolate muffin dough in the moulds of your baking pan. Bake the muffins for about 15 minutes. And there you have the sweet part of the muffins.


For the salty peanut butter frosting you need

  • 3/4 cup butter (170g Butter)
  • 1 tablespoon peanut butter (creamy)
  • 2 cups powdered sugar (300g Puderzucker)

Start with beating the butter in a large mixing bowl until soft. Then add the powdered sugar and beat the frosting until it`s really smoothie. Then add the paenut butter and beat it again. And there you have your salty peanut butter frosting. Fill the frosting in a cupcake decorating bag and squeeze it smoothly on your cupcake. Decorate your chocolate peanut butter cupcake with a little pretzel.
